Watercolor Topiary Painting on Wood: Distressed French Farmhouse Decor

TOPIARY 3 PANEL is an original hand-painted 4"x8" (with .75" side edge) watercolor painting featuring an impressionistic boxwood topiary in a blue-and-white planter against a turquoise distressed background. I mounted the painting onto a wooden cradled panel with heavy gel matte, then finished it off by applying several coats of protective clear wax, giving it a slight sheen. I added a blue-and-white grosgrain ribbon bow bedecked with butterflies -- but this is attached with thick double-stick tape and can easily be removed without damaging the artwork. The painting itself was done on Arches 140 lb. cold-pressed watercolor paper with Daniel Smith watercolor paints. No further framing needed -- you simply have the happy task of finding the ideal spot for it.

I'm obsessed with the very unique shape of these elongated oval wood panels! This piece called out for a distressed retro or rustic vibe, so I darkened it up a bit with brown wax. Since it's on the small side, but not too small, this piece is an ideal fit for all sorts of nooks and crannies and still makes an impactful visual impression. Hang it on your French farmhouse wall; in your country kitchen or powder room...tuck it into the corner of a bookcase or add it to your gallery wall. Or pair it with one of my other available complementary topiary pieces.
