Penguin and Chick Original Watercolor Painting, Winter Nursery Art (14x10)

"Penguin & Chick" is an original, hand-painted 14"x10" watercolor painting of an Emperor Penguin with a baby chick in a snowy, icy blue background. I painted it on Arches 140 lb. cold-pressed watercolor paper with Daniel Smith professional-grade watercolor paints, also using Brusho (a pigmented watercolor powder) for marbling effects. I achieved the look of snow by dropping salt and rubbing alcohol into the wet paint, and the iceberg texture was created by applying crumpled plastic wrap to the drying blue paint. (Tricks of the trade!)

This charming one-of-a-kind work of art is perfect for a nursery room, kids' bedroom or playroom and can also easily fit into any winter holiday and Christmas display in any room of the house. The adorable baby chick and doting penguin parent are heartwarming enough to weather even the bone-chilliest of snowstorms.
