BOAT IN STORM is an original, hand-painted impressionistic watercolor painting of a small white-sails ship on a stormy sea in dark blue-grays and purples. I painted it on Arches 140-pound cold-pressed watercolor paper professional-grade watercolor paint with white gouache; the navy-blue matboard was attached with high-quality archival mounting strips. The actual painting itself is 6.5"x4.5" and the entire piece including the matboard measures 8"x10".

Nature really comes to life in this loosely painted piece -- practically monochromatic, using only blue-grays with a hint of purple. I added white gouache, a more opaque water-based paint, for the sails of the tiny boat to make them stand out against the storm.
