Lovers' Eyes Coasters, Set of 4, Watercolor Art, High-Gloss Finish

$28.00
My LOVERS' EYES COASTERS feature images of four of my popular Lovers' Eyes miniatures against solid color backgrounds. (These were actual 3-D framed watercolor paintings that have been sold.) Measuring 3.75"x3.75" and 0.125" thick, these unique coasters have a durable, high-gloss finish with non-slip cork backing. You will receive one coaster of each design for a set of four. Perfect for traditional, retro or modern decor; ideal for gifting! So, if you're clueless about what the heck lovers' eyes miniatures are, here's a bit of history...

"Here's lookin' at you, kid!" Eye miniatures or "Lovers' Eyes" date back to the Georgian era when a painting of the eye of a spouse, loved one or child (usually done in watercolor on ivory) was commissioned for sentimental reasons and sometimes fashioned into brooches or pendants in richly adorned frames. On the shadier side of things, as public romantic gestures were frowned upon in the 1700s (especially the elicit ones), the Lovers' Eyes became a fashionable way of clandestine flirting amongst the British elite. (Cheeky monkeys!) Queen Victoria later revived the fad in 1840 when she had her Royal Miniaturist, Sir William Charles Ross, create small eye portraits of her children, friends and relatives.

[Please be aware that the color of the images may appear slightly different on your screen than that of the actual product due to varying monitor settings.]

No box included. Coasters will arrive in a protective plastic sleeve with appropriate packaging. Returns/Exchanges accepted. Please email me with any questions you might have.
